In line with this, the Government of Odisha has introduced an online land records system, Bhulekh Odisha, that allows citizens to check their land details in Odisha quickly. Online land records have gained popularity as a recent trend in India, offering convenient access to essential information. These land banks will operate under the purview of the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) and will be allocated to the state government at no cost. These guidelines mandate the creation of specific land banks in each district, aiming to offset the utilization of forest land for various projects initiated by the central and state governments. In a recent development in May 2023, the Odisha government introduced new guidelines for establishing land banks for compensatory afforestation.
